Tonight, as we were leaving the house, Shawn noticed something in the road and said in horror “I think I saw Semsem”. So we drove around and came back to find our baby cat Semsem flattened on the street. Looked like a vehicle drove over her and flattened her like a pancake. RIP Semsem. She was fearless and I always worried about her getting hurt. Luckily enough it looked like the end was very fast and sudden. She probably didn’t know what hit her and I hope, felt no pain. As horrible as it was to see her like that and I know the image will haunt me for a while, I’m glad we did. Otherwise, we would have worried ourselves sick trying to find her when she went missing. She gave us so much joy and we will always cherish the beautiful memories of our baby cat Semsem. Right now I feel like my stomach has moved to my chest but I’m comforted by the thought that she felt no pain.

There are a few things more painful than accidentally finding our beloved cat, Semsem dead in the street. However, that’s our pain, not hers. She lived 4 happy years loved, fed, cared for and most importantly, free. She was almost maintenance free; never got sick, never got hurt, didn’t bring prey indoors and demanded very little attention. We simply fed, loved, rubbed faces in fur, gave flea medicine and enjoyed her company. Even her sudden departure was low maintenance and, from her view point, painless. By sheer luck, we found her within a couple of hours of being hit; her body was still warm. One minute she was running around playing with Keesha, the next, she was out’a here. No mess, no fuss, no agony. For that, I will always be very grateful. Miss you little one!

This morning, Shawn found my drum and tambourine in the bushes near our house. It turns out someone broke into my car, rummaged through the glove compartment, stole my hip scarves and the drum bag, but dumped my instruments in the bushes. I’m very happy and relieved they didn’t take them and that we found them, but seriously, make it stop!!!
