Being sick sucks! Being sick at the Sexibility Festival sucked even more. Being sick at the Sexibility Festival where it was cold and rainy non-stop in August sucked triple bad. All the amazing potential connections, networking and indulgence in yummy-ness at my fingertips and all my body wanted to do was sleep. So sleep I did. I impressed myself by how much I could sleep in the middle of a non-stop party. I would tell myself “I’ll just lie down for a quick nap then join the next event”. 3 hours later, I would wake up sluggishly, realizing that I missed the next event, choosing to sleep some more. So the days passed, crashing wherever I felt warm and dry. The festival started mildly and progressed in spicy-ness. I was healthy and indulged the first couple of days when it was still mellow. Just as the heat started building up, I caught a head cold which rendered me useless for a few days. Sleep was the only comfort.
Then it was all over: the festival, my cold, yet the cold rainy weather of Sweden persisted, in August.
I’m very grateful for the small miracles though. They kept happening, even through the darkest of times. “You may have my free ticket”. “Let me wash your dishes for you”! “I’ll take you to where you want to go”. “Would you like a back rub?” What’s this place? Are these people real? Yes! That’s what happens when people feel connection and love. Ängsbacka community fosters cooperation, communication, personal growth and many core values that create a field of love and trust. Despite the cold weather, I felt a lot of warm hearts and divine love holding me. Unexpected encounters with soul family loved ones from all over the world. Meeting new friends. Simple acts of kindness. Even when I couldn’t book a window seat for my 4 hour bus ride to Stockholm, when I got on the bus, a woman sitting in my aisle seat offered me the window seat. I happily accepted. She got off at the first stop so I had 2 seats in which to stretch. At the hostel, they upgraded my room to one with a private bathroom. No questions asked. I’m just grateful for all the little gifts. Life’s ups and downs. Just keep breathing.
